This is an area adjacent to and at the same floor of the Intensive Care Unit. It provides continuity in patient treatment once hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit. As the health status of patients improves, they often times no longer require strict care and are moved to the Intermediate Care Unit.  The Intermediate Care Unit also cares for patients requiring continuous surveillance for the diagnosis and opportune treatment of a condition.
